A little update on our housing situation.....
We have been continuing to pray and praise God for the house in Banff (called Wardend). But in the meantime, we have determined we need to keep moving forward. It's possible that God will give us Wardend - we are still believing for it. But it's also possible that it will not be immediately. We know God gives good gifts to His children (Matthew 7:11). But in fact, the house needed a good deal of work. It's possible that it is not a 'good gift' right now. Perhaps it will be a good gift in 5 years, or 10, or 2 - we don't know. But for now we have been moving ahead with looking for another house, while asking the Lord to interrupt us if we are off-track. We feel a deep peace about this.
Yesterday, we put an offer on an absolutely beautiful house in Turriff, Aberdeenshire. We both loved it, and it felt very retreat-like. But the asking price is unfortunately higher than we are able to go. We offered lower, and so far have not had that offer accepted. That was almost expected, to be honest. But there is a second house in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, that we also really liked - and this house is in nearly perfect shape for an old house. We are going to put an offer on that one today instead. If it is also not the right one for now, we believe God will continue to direct our steps and close doors we aren't meant to walk through. It's what we are asking of Him.
For now, we need prayer for the Canadian Dollar / Great British Pound exchange rate to go up. The markets have been a little volatile lately with some political upheaval here in the UK, and our hoped-for exchange rate has dropped. We are looking to send the money over in the next few days, so a miraculous rise in the exchange rate is something for which we're asking people to pray.
